Isaac has been experimenting with animations to mock up potential solutions to products. The animation shows the design for a blank plastic injection mould. The internal space is used to house both halves of a mould which can either be 3D printed or cast from a temperature resistant resin. Subsequently the mould can be fastened and fitted to the injector in order to make products with complicated geometry. Creating moulds in this manner allows for the flexibility and precision of a solid mould without the associated costs and lengthy amounts of time spent waiting for them to be fabricated from solid aluminium.

During the second half of 2021, the Products team took over our social media to show off their products! From the early stages of the design process through identifying a need area, all the way to research regarding the properties of plastic sheets, our Products members have been creating some incredible designs and products. Many of these products were challenging due to the restrictions in Melbourne at the time of filming, so get a glimpse into how the division managed to still create original and useful recycled plastic products with a variety of challenges.
