Medical device manufacturer SHL Medical from Switzerland announced the acquisition of Superior Tooling, a US manufacturer of plastic injection moluds through quality tooling, based in Wake Forest, North Carolina.

Continuing its growth journey, SHL Medical has acquired Superior Tooling , a US-based manufacturing company specialising in plastic injection moulds. The integration of Superior Tooling is intended to strengthen the SHL’s inhouse manufacturing capabilities, particularly for its upcoming US manufacturing site in North Charleston, scheduled to begin operations in mid-2024.

HTI Plastics announced that it recently purchased a new 420-ton Engel injection molding press with an integrated Engel Viper 20 robot. The versatile E-motion 1640/420 T WP US press will be used to mold products across a number of applications and expand the company’s services in a variety of areas. It was delivered to HTI’s facility in early May in two sections and was up and running by the end of the month.
HTI Plastics operates a total of 32 injection molding presses in tonnages ranging from 30 to 1,800 T at its Lincoln, NE, facility.
The acquisition of Superior Tooling not only supports the tooling needs of SHL’s in-house manufacturing but also its strategy to deliver the quality tools to customers across industries. The US company will work closely with SHL’s existing tooling departments to develop new solutions for its global customer base.
